Gallery: Kingdom Death The King By Sven

**This is Kingdom Death NSFW!**
Hello everyone, I can’t believe how much time has passed since my last post here. Even the name of the blog has changed! After my last article I had to deal with a really high workload over the holiday season and then I moved places which ended in nearly 3 month without Internet access at home. Of course by no means have I been idle, and some hobby has been done whenever I had some spare time. I’m really glad to finally be back on the blog, after that unplanned break and I am hopeful that you the readers are too! So will out further delay, we shall start with something rarely seen.

Site News: And We Are Back! Salute '15 Shenanigans, Vikings, Trolls & Giants!

*Please note that this post is image heavy*

Greetings all, Salute 2015 was an absolute blast this year, I caught up with a lot of old industry friends and even made a few new ones. The repercussions of this however are a lighter wallet and a touch of exhaustion, this has not however stopped me from tearing into my new purchases from the event. A big surprise this year is that I did not come back with anything from Forge World! Despite getting to the event early and being more or less at the front of the queue, I was to face disappointment when it finally came to my turn. I was told that the new Vindicator and Deredeo plasma weapons had been delayed and was coming in after lunch...add on top the fact that they had nothing else I wanted with them, meant my wallet was surprisingly unscathed. I took one look at the ever increasing queue behind and decided 'I'm not doing that again!'.

This photo is from a friend who arrived mere minutes after Hellstrom and I did.

With Forge World out of the way, I assumed that there would be nothing else of interest, until my email popped with a message from non other than Sven! To the Mierce Miniatures stand it was then! I have always popped over to the Mierce stand in the past, but generally to do nothing more than view; the always amazing models on display; which are on a table for punters to handle as well as cabinets stacked with some of the most beautifully painted armies I have ever seen. I didn't get a demo game - a mistake - but from what I could see the system is fluid despite the mix of regular and monstrous infantry. While Sven has always been our resident Mierce man, I have to admit that I am intrigue and do want to try the game out. Below is a selection of painted miniatures used for the demo games.

*Lots of photos from this point onwards*

Site News: The Week Ahead!

Greetings all, it's a little bit quiet around here right now as Hellstrom and I gear up for Salute. Money will be spent, beer will flow (The Spice!) and hopefully the day will end with bags full of toys! As for this ever so slow week, both Hellstrom and I have made the final tweaks to our respective Horus Heresy 2000 point lists and now we are on the final leg of our painting journey before our game. We should be getting our final pre-show Forge World order, which contains two more Dreadclaws for me and some more Gorgon nastiness for Hellstrom by the end of the week.

- I am a bit more of an 'Asian Jay', but frankly Hellstrom is Bob's evil twin -

What about the show? Well there are two companies that are on our hit list (other than Forge World of course!) - Prodos Games and Mierce Miniatures.

Prodos Games have been showing off a lot of new Imperial renders on the run up to Salute. we have seen shots of the what look like Grey Ghosts, Wolfbane, the Necromower and my personal favourite the Mourning Wolves. Having never gotten round to Imperial, this is probably the best time to get into something outside of the WWI Trencher look.

Mierce Miniatures is a range I have been keeping my eyes on the range since it's first Kickstarter. What I am interested in is the Norse range and depending on what new stuff or deals they have going on, I might take the opportunity to finally dive in and sate my Viking fetish!

Unfortunately, Prodos Games were not able to get our AvP Board game Kickstarter pledges for the event, but quite frankly I didn't fancy carrying a box game during the day and it gives me something to look forward to over the summer, so no issue there. I will be doing the rounds, and keeping a keen eye on places like Studio McVey (always good to chat with Mike!), Hasslefree, Freebooter and Heresy as they usually have good pre-release stuff to oggle and buy throughout the day. I am not sure right now if I will be tweeting pictures on the day, or leaving it for a summary post later. But regardless we will interesting wargaming eye candy to share over the coming weeks, so as always like, follow or join our Facebook page, Twitter page or of course follow the page via blogger or Google +

To finish up, we may be seeing the return of a long lost writer in the next couple of weeks! Fans of Kingdom Death and Mierce Miniatures should keep a close eye the next couple of weeks...

Gallery: Warzone Resurrection Bauhaus Vorreiters

This is probably my favourite unit from the Warzone: Resurrection Kickstarter. Based on an early 20th Century tracked bike design, the Vorreiters have a awesome industrial look to them that fits the Bauhaus background nicely. I do prefer the more regimented and basic look of the original versions, compared to the redesign which has a more Polish Winged Lancer look to them. I added armorcast muzzle flash to give a sense of action to the unit, as well as an excuse to add some OSL to the miniature as a whole.

Product Review: Raging Heroes W101 Cyber Zombie Bodyguard

I was unfortunate enough to have missed the Raging Heroes' (Or Raging Hormones as we like to joke) 'Toughest Girls In The Galaxy' Kickstarter back in 2013, part of the reason was the scale comparison; back then the sculpts were much larger than Space Marines; and also the fact that I had thrown in my lot with Prodos Games' Warzone Kickstarter. It was only after things started shipping some year and a bit later, that I looked again at the Toughest Girls In The Galaxy Kickstarter, only to discover that they have actually decided to reduce the scale a little, and this as they say changes things dramatically.

As it stands, fulfillment waves are still being sent out, but despite this eBay seems to be saturated with the KS freebies such as W101 Cyber Zombie Bodyguard. It was because of this; and the scale change; that I took the plunge last weekend and placed a bid for the W101 Cyber Zombie Bodyguard freebie, and much to my surprise I managed to win her for the rather low price of £6.50.

Gallery: Warzone Resurrection Bauhaus Juggernauts

As soon as these new versions came out, I bought them as replacements for my Kickstarter versions. While the KS versions were good in their own way, I felt that these sculpts better captured the whole running through brick walls feel, that is mentioned in the background. I decided to add extra armorcast flame details and a little bit of OSL effects to make them stand out from the rest of the force. Fantastic miniatures, some of my favourites from the Prodos games range.

Gallery: Horus Heresy Iron Hands Praevian By Hellstrom

Here is my first gallery submission; not just for the Horus Heresy Gallery; but also for Send The Eighth! Blog. I originally intended this to be a generic HQ miniature, but the more I look at it, the more I feel it will become the Praevian in my Iron Hands army. Once I get my get my Castellax robots finished, I will add the pictures here.

Miniature was painted with a mix of Vallejo Game, Colour & Air paints.

Horus Heresy: Night Lords By DiStudios Army Update #5

A belated happy Easter to you all and my apologies for the delay between project updates. I have been very busy over the last couple of weeks adding, building and prepping for painting the various units needed to bulk out my army. As it stands, I feel I actually have enough models to play some smaller games in the future. So this update shows just how big a chunk of models I have manage to add to the good old Night Lords.

Product Review: Citadel Crusade Figure Case

Greetings all, welcome to our break down of one of the most anticipated Games Workshop accessory releases - The new Citadel Crusade Case. Boasting capacity of 400 figures and new 'innovative' foam design, the accompanying video with this release, created a surge of positive remarks concerning GW's progression in non-miniature products at a some what competitive price point. The question is, is it any good? We aim to find to out! Please note this is a long article as we have tried to be as thorough as possible from a hobbyist perspective, I hope you do manage to make it past the jump and to the end, as we feel the information is useful.

Ok to get things out of the way - credentials. I myself have been collecting Games Workshop products for 26 years and spent time working in their London retail branches as a staffer and eventual manager for 6 years - If you are sitting there thinking 'ha GW staffers know nothing!' you are wrong, we know complaints and the reasons that cause them. In terms of case 'technology' I have seen and owned it all, from Citadel, Figures In Comfort, Feldherr, Battle Foam and of course KR Multicase. While I can't give you scientific facts and statistical proof, I can give you my experience and a load of pictures. Hellstrom, who has also given feedback to this article has been at this little hobby of ours for much longer than I and has a collection of cases to match his miniatures, you could easily mistake his wargames room for the back room of a GW store!
