Badab War: Something resin this way Comes...

The Minotaurs enter in full force this morning, with lots of resin reinforcements from Forge World (and other places).  I picked up a mixed assortment of models to bulk up the army including two dreadnoughts and Ferrox bolters for my Sternguard, the rest of the items are more vanity purchases that will provide me weeks of modelling and painting fun but will probably see little game time.

Badab War: Enter the Minotaurs

"The beast, the bronze beast in the darkness, footsteps, it never tired, it just kept coming! We didn't stand a chance...wherever we turned, we could not escape, never escape!"

The Badab War takes a turn as I leave the Secessionist forces and enter with the Minotaurs. I really like the colour scheme and background for this chapter which is the main driving force for leaving behind my Tyrant's Legion, an added bonus is that it is a standard Space Marine List so I won't have the usual worries of justifying a Forge World list among the gaming group. I have amassed a few models already including the Forge World Ironclad Dreadnought and an Achilles Land Raider (for display only), and I have figured out a satisfactory (and quick) method of painting my bronze power armour.

Kingdom Death: Another Teaser

Kingdom Death have released a teaser image of another planned release. This one shows almost all of the torso, including the handle of what seems like a cleaver weapon. Again it looks like another very detailed figure, with what looks like facial skins wrapped around the gut plate.

Initial thoughts are an Ogre type character but it could even be an Orc or Chaos esque model and due to the image showing more than the previous teaser, I would speculate this figure being released soon, perhaps even for the end of May.

Wip: Kingdom Death: Saviour #2

Some good progress this weekend on the Saviour miniature, with the clothing reaching completion. I am really pleased with the way my blending has been progressing, most notably the green jacket and purple waist coat and while I only have two days to dedicate to painting I am at the point where I don't want to rush this figure anymore, rather spend more time improving my technique.

Tomorrow I am hoping to finish up the cloak and stockings, but I think next weekend will be the one I can say 'done and dusted', and with that in mind I am eyeing up the next Kingdom Death figure to paint up.

Arrivals: Khador Gun Carriage, Knight Models and more!

Despite the rainy weekend morning, my Saturday has shaped up quite nicely. While out of town a  whole load of orders arrived awaiting my perusal and all of them make me as giddy as a kid in a toy shop. The packages contained a very random assortment of supplies of latest releases and very cool figures I have been looking at for some time, I am expecting more arrivals for next week but the above is the core of the arrivals I have been waiting for.

Last month I moved to Vallejo Model Colour  paints and have been hooked ever since, preferring the larger range of colours and consistency to Vallejo Game Colour. I took the opportunity to extend my flesh tone range as those portions of the miniature I tend to favour when painting. I picked up the 8 pack set which gives me a staggering 8 additional flesh tones I can now use as base colours or shade washes for my figures, I look forward to seeing what effects I can conjure up.

Site News: A quiet month coming

A little note to say things are going to be quieter than normal on this blog for a while, with posting limited to weekends. I normally aim to throw out a post a day with updates and purchase reviews but  due an out of town job I have for the next two months I just won't be able to make that quota. This will mean my posts will be less to do with news and pre-releases, but for truly stand-out items I will dedicate posts. The new posting format will mean news on Friday/Saturdays and Sundays.

Kingdom Death: Teasers

A little teaser from the KD gang today, not sure quite what to make of it yet but it looks like either a chest plate or perhaps a shield. This could be part of the rumoured next big beastie floating about, but my money is on either a Manhunter sized beastie or even a tanker class full plate knight.
