Horus Heresy: Night Lords By DiStudios Lightning Stike Fighter W.i.p

Greetings all, here is last weeks overdue army update. As regular readers will be aware, I have been waiting on various bits and bobs this month (all of which were delayed) in order to proceed with finishing certain builds. Most of this items have arrived now; including Sevatar; but a few key items are missing for the Glaive, which sadly means delays on that progress. On the plus side, I finally put paint to the Lightning Strike Fighter and after some major issues (read on) it seems the model is on the road to completion.

Horus Heresy: Night Lords By DiStudios - Konrad Curze!

The project has been massively stalled this week by a few annoying factors. Despite ordering Sevatar on day of release (within 30 minutes of the pre-order appearing), I am still with out a Prince Of Crows miniature. To make matters worse, it seems certain products I ordered to help complete the detailing on my Glaive and third Terror Squad, may not actually be available. To make matters worse, because the orders were combined with important things such as primer, airbrush cleaner and paints, this has resulted in a stall on the painting side of my Night Lords project. With very little left to this weekend, I decided it was time to tackle the Night Haunter himself.

This is a incredibly detailed miniature; which is great, as he is not cheap; but at the same time I was very surprised how easily he went together. There were some casting issues on the left leg but nothing that can't be fixed with a little liquid greenstuff. Although my intention was to make a start on the build, as you can see from the picture above; I managed to finish him in one sitting. All I need now if my primer and I am ready to go! The head and shoulder pads (pinned to cloak) are not glued for ease of painting.

With the fundamentals of my force taking shape and nearing completion, my thoughts are now projected at how to evolve the army. Despite my love of Drop Pods, I am moving towards more of an infantry foot slog force, which I am notorious for running anyways.

Site News: New Social Media Options

Hi everyone, so this week I will be heading out to work, which sadly means the blog will be a little light on the hobby updates. This should not affect release news, but you never know. However I do have some very nice hobby bits arriving at work this week and so I have decided to take time and inform regular and potential readers of the various methods of keeping track of what I am up to.

Twitter
I have finally gotten the hang of Twitter. There is now a widget on the right hand side which shows my latest thoughts/wips/purchases. While it in no shape replaces the blog, it is a great way to keep track of updates that might normally take weeks or to see new wargaming bits I come across (this will be very useful during convention season!). Since using Twitter, I have already posted various wip shots of things like the Dreadclaw Assault Pod and the Legion Glaive which are not on the blog yet so to follow me on Twitter - Christopher Gomez@SendTheEighth or visit the Twitter page directly:

Facebook
For those who don't have/don't like Twitter, I also have a Facebook page. My Tweets and blog posts automatically sync with the Facebook Page, so it is a very easy way of accessing the site and my various hobby updates while on the move or catching up with people on Facebook. Please check out and like my Facebook Page:

I am very appreciative of all the people who check out this little blog and should you be interested in what I am getting up to this week (hobby wise) I would suggest signing up, liking and following via these methods. This week should prove to be quite interesting as I do have some new models arriving at work, along with some other bits...

Horus Heresy: Night Lords By DiStudios Army Update #4

The weekend is here! And I have been looking forward to posting this update up all week. The Anvillus Pattern Dreadclaw Drop Pod is for all intents and purposes complete. I need to straight up apologise for the picture quality though, as the lamp glare is quite extreme in most of these shots, and I have no clue about photo shop etc I have to be honest, while I am very happy with the way this has turned out (note the blue is darker in real life), a part of me really wants to add some weathering pigments and oils to the equation, however I am not sure whether this will be over kill or a road to ruining this miniature.

Forge World: Reaver Titan Volcano Cannon & Chainfist Arms

Forge World's latest pre-orders are two new weapon options for the mighty Mars Pattern Reaver Titan, the Volcano Cannon adds some vicious ranged punch to your arsenal, while the chainfist gets the job done should things get too close. Both weapons can be built for either left or right hard points and are available for pre-order now, with a dispatch date of Friday 13th February. Both arms cost £55.50 each.

Forge World: Weekender 2015 Releases

With only a few more days to go, Forge World have given us a peak as to what will be available over the weekend. Now there is a huge list of stuff, including Black Library products, mugs and of course T-Shirts. But I am only going to cover the miniatures, as there are some very interesting products listed and I am short on time this afternoon. The most stand out point, is that the Solar Auxilia is being given a big early push to complete the army list, before the next book, something I am happy with. Now if only they can clear up the remaining Space Marine back log (although there is not much anymore), we can see even more fresh releases in a year.

As you can see, despite the Solar Auxilia push, there has been some effort made to include Legion Space Marine products, the Tainted Dreadnought, completely threw me off, but I like what they have done with it. However the stand out item for me are the Quad Mortar Rapiers; an item long missing from the Legion lists, now that we have a definite model; albeit for the Solar Auxilia list; I suspect a Space Marine version coming very soon down the line - and that I am keen to add to my army!

So are you going to the Horus Heresy Weekender? If so prepare your wallets!

Forge World: Bulletin #46 Auxilia Ogryn Charonite Squad Teaser?

Forge World's latest news bulletin has thrown in a sneaky little preview of what could be a Ogryn Charonite for the Solar Auxilia army list. After first reading the entry in book 4, I was very interested to see what these things would look like and in my opinion Forge World impresses. From the fist weapon (Charonite Claws?) to the cool looking helmet design, I think Solar Auxilia may be getting a little bit of my financial attention very soon...

This figure should be at the very least on preview at the upcoming Horus Heresy Weekender. I for one am quite excited to see what exactly Forge World has in store for us this year.

Site News: Facebook Page

Hi guys, just taking the time after today's extensive paint session to let you know that the blog has a Facebook page. The advantages of liking/following this page, is that you can see on the fly updates and read my immediate thoughts on miniatures releases. Now of course this does not replace the blog in any capacity as this little space on the net will have all the substantial eye candy such as the galleries, tutorials and battle reports as normal. But if you are curious to see the most up to date work in progress shots, convention pics and general wargaming news, then click the link below to redirect.

Currently on the Facebook page are the latest w.i.p shots of the Dreadclaw Assault Pod, plus a sneaky peek of what is coming next!
