Badab War: Reinforcements En Route

After the disappointment of the Terminator assault squad, my Minotaurs project is striking back with no less than 3 new units! First up is a my new HQ choice: A Librarian who will naturally be leading/gating the Sternguard squad. Like many before me, I could not resist the awesome Sevrin Loth Forge World sculpt, however it does have a little DiStudios conversion work in the form of a force staff to (hopefully) make him stand our a little. To finish him off I am envisioning a huge sweeping cloak, which will cover the power pack.

I have to admit to being a bit too excited making the Sternguard, they have been completely cannibalised from my old Vanguard Veteran squad which had some awesome bits I was eager to recycle, the unit leader (crest) is identical to his Vanguard version, minus a Relic Blade. Although the Minotaurs are known for having large stocks of MK8 Errant armour, I decided to go with full 'Iron' armour, as I would expect this armour to still be superior in close confine ship to ship fighting or siege work. I have given this squad rounded shields as both a throw back to the Hoplite imagery associated with the Minotaurs and also to represent siege mantlets, I think the final result is a quite unique looking Sternguard unit.

And finally, a bit of armour. like most of the items in this army, the Ironclad Dreadnought has been sitting in its pack waiting its turn to be cleaned/put together. I am pleased to finally have it put together, with the only thing left to do is make the base. I am actually thinking that out of all the units I have worked on today, the Dreadnought has the potential to be painted and most likely finished over the weekend, but we shall see. The Ironclad is the first of three Dreadnoughts I have planned for my Minotaurs army.

So a very productive week, which makes up for the poor progress on the Assault Terminators, I have the last few bits to complete this army en route, namely the parts for my Master of the Forge with Conversion Beamer, using the new Valthex model, so that will be something for readers to watch out for. As you can see my Minotaurs is very much alive and not quite as slow burn as I thought it was! This weeks progress has me at around 1000pts worth of built Space Marines, so naturally thoughts are turning towards Autumn/Winter games. It would be nice to meet up with some fellow Badab collector/players and have at it!

There are also crazy ideas floating around of making some board sections based on the inside of a Space Marine/Imperial warship ^^ Drawings have been made and parts are being sourced...GAME ON.

Until next time!

Thanks for reading,
