Gallery: The Hobbit Iron Hills Dwarf Collection By Chris

A great change from the Ironjawz I have been painting in recent months, Forge World's Iron Hill Dwarf collection; from the final installment of The Hobbit Trilogy. This is the entire first wave release for this collection and comprises of Dwarf Warriors, the Ballista and of course Dain Ironfoot himself! Being Forge World miniatures, there was a bit of cleaning work and Dain himself had a very large amount of release agent, so a overnight detergent bath was necessary. In terms of painting, these are probably some of the more paint-able Forge World infantry pieces and were quick in terms of getting a uniformed quality paint job.

Unfortunately my photography skills are a bit of a let down again, and I managed to not get any usable shots of Dain foot or mounted, so I had to resort to the 'w.i.p' versions of the miniatures - basically they are finished but no attempts at a flashy background. When you compare the w.i.p photos to the 'Gallery photos', you can see that something is clearly amiss.

Anyway, very fun collection to paint, I hope this leaves enough of a positive impression for me to do another batch for the client.

Site News: State Of The Blog

Greetings all! My it has been a long time since I have last posted. A great deal of this is due to the format change incorporated this year. Essentially live updates are now on the Facebook page, while completed Gallery shots are posted here on the blog. So if you fancy keeping up on my daily activities, please check out my Facebook page and more importantly give it a 'Like' as I am running a competition for when we hit our 200th page Like.

In terms of new updates, this weekend I will be updating my Gallery with a couple of new items. Firstly we have a rather nice Pirate themed Goblin gang, by Freebooter Miniatures, and also Ironhill Dwarfs for The Battle Of Five Armies.

So keep your eyes peeled for those, or better yet get a first glimpse tomorrow and Sat via the Facebook page ;-)

Thanks for reading,

Gallery: Horus Heresy Night lords Legion Glaive By Chris

Probably one of my favourite tanks from the Horus Heresy range, and as a bonus, I got to paint it in Night Lords colours. It has Night Lord Legion doors and some special extras I added, such as improvised sand bag armour and a dead Space Marine on the left hand side. At the barrel of the main gun - Volkite Carronade - I have also added heat staining, the quad las-cannons are magnetised for ease of transporting. Special attention was paid to making the lightning as vibrant as possible and of course weathering such as scratches and rust were added to make it look more war ravaged.

Third party - 'Oppressor tracks' - from Blood And Skulls Industry were added to give the tank a much more malevolent feel, to match the Night Lords modus operandi.

Miniature was painted with a combination of Vallejo Model, Game and Air paints.

Gallery: Warzone Resurrection - Corporate Agents By Chris

Warzone: Resurrection - Corporate Agents; designed initially for the Mutant Chronicles RPG; are a group of individuals responsible for safeguarding 'company assets' out in the field. Despite the corporate look they come equipped with titanium woven suits, under armour and the PSA Mk.XIV 'Aggressor' gun. They are sometimes accompanied by cybernetic dogs called 'Iron Mastiffs', which the Agents control via interfaces in their sunglasses.

Site News: Break The Silence!

Greetings and salutations, I am finally back with new content to share! This year has incredibly busy for me, as I got use to the concept of working commissions for companies (Word Forge Games and others). This coupled with a exceptionally busy private commission year, meant more time behind the paint desk, than behind the computer. However I have finally managed to strike a decent balance, and while I still have loads of commissions to get through, I also have time/content to share on the blog. So without further delay, here come the toys...

Due to the commission work, there has not been much time for me to work on my personal collection. Despite this, I have been working my way through my Warzone Bauhaus collection, with nearly a nearly complete unit of Blitzers and a Corporate bodyguard to boot. Not much I admit, but merely the tip of the iceberg, as the collection as a whole has grown quite massively since I last shared.

In the picture above, you can also see one of my recently completed commissions - Freebooter Miniatures: Pirates. These are 100% complete and will be photographed and shared on this blog tomorrow, so keep an eye out for those, as I think they are among my best pieces to date.

Round the corner, we have a bunch of Mierce Norse figures, I have been slowly grinding through, as well as the final bits of a Word Forge Games commission. So next week is cars, Vikings and Corporate Germans!

Site News: State Of The Blog

Greetings all!

I think this post is long over due. As I am sure regular readers are aware, there has been very little content so far in 2016. As it stands, Sven is currently very busy studying a new course (good luck to you!) and I myself am fully loaded up with commission work for indie companies (more on that shortly) and private customers.

So where does this leave the blog?

Chamges
Never fear, the blog will be still be around, and in use. It was always my intention when I first started this blog, for it to be a showcase of painted figures from my collections and readers, it was through sheer enjoyment of the hobby, that it ended up encompassing tacticas, tutorials and reviews. however at this 'stage of the game' time is imply not on my (or the other writers) side. However while I cannot speak for the other writers, I myself will continue to be providing content on an irregular basis. As I mentioned above, I am currently working commissions for a number of miniature companies. I do have plenty of photographs to share, but it is merely a case of getting permission to share. So be sure to stick around, as those will be coming soon.

Conventions!
Salute 2016, my favourite wargaming event is round the corner - actually it's next weekend! And as per normal I will be doing a small article post event. However, unlike previous years, I will be experimenting with 'live updates' this year. So if you are a follower of my Twitter and Facebook page, you will be able to see the updates pretty much as soon as I make them! Expect lots of photos of nicely painted miniatures (including some of mine!) and possibly some previews of what's coming soon.

While on the subject of Twitter and Facebook, these two forms of media are now the primary places for my live/everyday updates. So if you want to see the latest thing I am painting, converting, gaming I would suggest following, liking and subscribing to my Twitter and Facebook pages.

I have to admit that I have tried to resist using the above social media, but quite frankly they make life so much easier when it comes to sharing my everyday hobby updates. Hopefully I will see some of you loyal readers there!

Site News: Releases & Cool Stuff

Good afternoon and welcome to a brand new series of hobby news bites. Each Saturday I will be taking a look and sharing my thoughts on various releases from around the hobby sphere. This week we have some very interesting new lines appearing, as well as Games Workshops latest Board Game.

Games Workshop: Deathwatch Overkill

This is probably the biggest release of the week, it sees a welcome return of both the Deathwatch Space Marines (11 figures in total) and more importantly the Genestealer Cult (a massive 39 figures in total!). The release is a separate board game in the same vein as Horus Heresy: Betrayal At Calth, but 40K fans can take advantage too of the new figures as White Dwarf contains rules and formations for using both the Deathwatch and Genestealer Cult in your games of 40K. Will it spawn a separate line? At this stage far too early to say, but for now merely having the option to field them as allies is good enough and gives hope to the revival of other sub species in the 40K world. This game has been released today and is available today HERE.

Wrath Of Kings

I have been quietly keeping an eye on this figure range for quite some time now. This Epic Fantasy game has a fantastic setting, with art and sculpting very similar to the much loved Rackham/Confrontation line from the early 2000's, even boasting it's own very awesome range of Wolf men - House Of Goritsi.  The figures seem amazingly detailed and the stock paint jobs go a long way to making these figures look like exceptional collector pieces, so whether its from a gaming background or collectors background you are coming from, these figures will most likely find a place in your collection.

To check out the latest releases for this amazing range, click HERE.

That's it for this week, I am intrigued to see what will come next! All the figures seen in today's article; and more; are available from Element Games, a fantastic store that provides amazing discounts, a generous reward system and very fast delivery.
