Gamesday 2010 Tickets

This years UK Gamesday tickets will be available from tomorrow, the event miniature is a Chaos sorcerer which follows on from last years Chaos Warrior event miniature. Perhaps these figures are the rejects from the Warriors of Chaos releases hehe?

As per previous years, the next few months will see more details revealed about what you will be able to find at this years event.

At-43: ONI

Unfortunately, not much in the way of hobby progress due to a number of home improvement issues. Not really a bad thing as it means I now have a very comfy couch and a new table to do my painting on and most importantly 4 new glass cabinets for my collections! I had been straining my back while working on the Blight Drone/Project Death Guard which was causing me to lose motivation to paint entirely. On the bright side, a number of interesting items arrived in the post this week, such as my new AT-43 army.

Kingdom Death: Gorm Advance Order

First production run of Gorm is now available to pre-order, the first run is limited to 150 casts with the batch to be divided between the aren't store and affiliates, and like the previously released Twilight Knight will come with a 6x4 Art print, signed/numbered certificate and alternate hands. The final model is shown below with a Space Marine for scale comparison.

Chaos Daemons Sneak Peek

Over the weekend, some of the major Warhammer blogs managed to get access to pictures of the Summer Chaos Daemons release. As expected there are a number of new plastic fillers such as the Seekers of Slannesh, Juggernauts and of course Horrors as well as a number of metal character releases. There is still no sign of any Nurgle stuff which points to a third wave release for 2011.

I have pulled up some of my personal favourites of this summers Daemonic incursion.

Painting Update: Blight Drone

This last week I have finally put down the sculpting tool and picked up the paintbrush. On the agenda was adding some paint to the lovely trio of Forge World Blight Drones I picked up last month at Salute. Now unfortunately one of them fell from my shelf and shattered, resulting in the need to purchase a replacement: no matter as I decided to throw the Nurgle Plague Ogryns on the order as a little bonus. With this in mind I decided that now was as good a time as any to start painting them...incase any more decided to take a flying lesson.

Soda Pop Miniatures: Rin Farrah

Soda Pop Miniatures is a new company that started autumn 2009, they specialise in Anime/Tokyo Pop styled metal figures 30mm in scale. I have been tracking the progress (and buying the miniatures) since their first release "Candy & Cola" last September. They have been releasing new characters on a monthly basis and this month's concept/sculpt is just as nice as it's predecessors.

Citadel Miniatures Catalogue 2010

Games Workshop have announced on Advance order the Citadel catalogue 2010, while this will pale in comparison to previous catalogues since the removal of bits purchase, it may be a valuable resource for series collectors.

New Chaos Daemons

Games-Workshop have announced wave 2 of the Chaos Daemon range for August. The newsletter describes new figures to be released for both 40k and Warhammer Fantasy Battle. It would be nice to see plastic box sets of the current metal range especially when you take into consideration the upcoming price increase, however a part of me suspects special character models being the primary focus instead.

The release ties in very nicely with the upcoming new edition of Warhammer and I am sure gamers who enjoyed unparalleled power in the last edition will both welcome (any) plastic models in order to test the power range of Chaos Daemons in the forth coming edition of Warhammer.

I myself would like to see the elusive Daemon Prince and of course plastic Plaguebearers and/or Ku'gath Plague Father.

Kingdom Death: White Lion & Gorm preview

I had a great opportunity to meet the Kingdom Death team at Salute 2010, I was amazed at the figures they brought to the show and eagerly purchased up most of the range on the day. I had seen Kingdom Death before but was unable to get hold of the figures due to limited production run, having met them face to face (really nice people!) I have become hooked. The art direction and sculpting style is just what I want/expect from a company labelling themselves as boutique figures.

Galleries Update

I have just updated gallery 1 with some of my very old work, there are various figures on there from many manufacturers. One thing I have learnt from doing this is how spoon fed I was with Wordpress, organising the various forms of code to get the gallery looking how I wanted was at first very tedious but now that it is done, I enjoy the control given to me by writing/editing the HTML directly.

As they say, learn something new everyday! Please check out the newly added photos here: Gallery 1
